Emon Successful In Debut

In the opening bout of the evening Junmar Emon, of Toronto was successful in his pro debut as he defeated Daryl Person, now 0-2, of Hamilton by a four round unanimous decision.  The judge’s scores were 40-35 x 2 and 39-37.

There was a lot of nervous energy at the opening bell but Emon was able to land the harder cleaner combinations. Peron gave away his height advantage trying to fight inside which has a big mistake and he ate a lot of leather for doing so.  Early in the second round Emon caught Peron with a looping right hand that dropped him however the Hamilton fighter was up to his feet by eight.  Emon moved in looking to finish Peron off but he moved in too close and smothered his on punches and after 40 seconds of this he tired himself out which allowed Peron to trap him on the ropes and land solid punches as the round closed out.

Peron had no answer for Emon’s right hand and left hook to the head in the final two rounds.  Emon continued to chop away at Peron who looked stunned on several occasions. To Person’s credit however he never went down from the onslaught.
